About Aurora Belmont Private Clinic

Aurora Belmont Private Clinic, also known as Belmont Private Hospital, is a long-established private mental health facility in Carina, Brisbane. Open since 1973, the hospital provides residential, day and outpatient support for adults facing addiction, trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, psychosis, neurodiversity and other complex mental health concerns. Care is delivered by psychiatrists, mental health nurses and allied health professionals using an individualised, evidence-based approach. Treatment may combine one-to-one counselling, group therapy, CBT, DBT, ACT, psychoeducation, creative therapies and practical recovery skills. Family and carer involvement may also be incorporated where appropriate, supporting continuity beyond the hospital setting. The clinic offers specialised pathways for young adults, older adults, women, veterans and people experiencing co-occurring substance use and mental health disorders. Its programmes include addiction recovery, trauma and dissociation care, ADHD management, bipolar and depression support, perinatal mental health services and neurostimulation options. Set within Brisbane's leafy eastern suburbs, Belmont aims to create a calm and supportive environment for recovery. Patients may have access to private rooms, gardens, recreational spaces, nature-based activities and adventure outings, alongside structured clinical care. Admission generally requires referral to a psychiatrist with admitting rights, followed by an assessment with the admissions team.

My husband was very apprehensive recently having to be admitted to BPH after a 10 year gap. It turned out to be a very good experience for him thanks to the efforts of the incredible Dr Mark Spelman and his team. All care was given to him being elderly and a falls risk and the  positive outcome of the admission was well worth the time spent there. Special thanks to everyone that took part in that admission from Vicki, Lyndell and Kylie, Jazz, Nicole, Georgette, Milka, Eric, Mandekka and last but not least the little pocket rocket Yvonne. The Catering Unit also did a great job looking after his dietary needs and the hospital pharmacy was able to liaise with our local chemist to have the Webster Roll updated and ready for his continuity of care at home. He even had a call from the Clinical Care Team a few days after discharge to make sure that his recovery was on track with the new medication which was very comforting and reassuring. Happy to recommend the Belmont Private Hospital and the caring attentive staff they have on duty.

Incredibly unsafe environment with zero accountability from management. Staff turn a blind eye to deeply concerning behaviour, and if you dare to speak up about it or advocate for your own safety, you are immediately discharged. I lasted less than a day before being shown the door for refusing to accept their abysmal standards. Avoid at all costs.

Called this facility to speak to them about admitting someone going though suicidal issues. Spoke to the shift manager who was completely unhelpful. He said it will take days to possibly get them seen and when I asked "what do you do in acute situations when the person is still actively suicidal" and his response was "I dunno" then he hung up on me. Unbelievable for a mental health facility to have ZERO assistance in a acute mental health situation and completely unprofessional. Do better.

Dr Lin is a great practitioner. He has really helped improve my quality of life. He is receptive to thoughts, offers clear explanations, and has provided tailored care.
