About Cyrenian House - Saranna Women and Children's Program

Cyrenian House’s Saranna Women and Children’s Program provides residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation for adult women who want to continue caring for their children while working toward recovery. The family-focused setting helps remove a major barrier to treatment by allowing eligible mothers and children to remain together throughout the residential programme. Saranna operates within the Rick Hammersley Centre Therapeutic Community, a peaceful 32-acre bushland property approximately 30 minutes north of central Perth. Families stay in individual accommodation, while children up to age 12 can attend a local primary school or the purpose-built childcare centre located on the grounds. Treatment follows a gender-specific, evidence-based and strengths-focused therapeutic community model. Women actively participate in shared routines, therapeutic groups, individual counselling, recreation and practical responsibilities, using daily community life to develop healthier behaviours, stronger relationships and greater personal accountability. Alongside addiction treatment, the programme can address parenting, perinatal mental health, family and domestic violence, housing and independent living needs. Case management, medical-service access, relapse prevention and aftercare planning help women prepare for a safer, more stable return to family and community life.
