About Next Chapter Recovery House

Next Chapter Recovery House is a small residential addiction and mental health recovery centre in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand. Founded in March 2024, the house accommodates approximately two to five residents, creating an intimate setting where care can be tailored to each person's recovery goals. Its programmes support adults experiencing substance use, trauma and co-occurring mental health concerns. Treatment combines evidence-based, holistic, experiential and trauma-informed approaches. Depending on individual needs, care may include one-to-one counselling, group work, CBT, DBT, EMDR, Internal Family Systems therapy, relapse prevention and family therapy. Mindfulness, yoga, creative therapies, fitness and life-skills development complement clinical sessions and help residents establish healthier daily routines. Life at the house extends beyond the therapy room. Residents can swim, exercise and practise yoga onsite, while excursions may include hiking, cycling, sightseeing, boxing, rock climbing and ziplining around Chiang Mai. These structured experiences encourage confidence, connection and enjoyment without alcohol or drugs. Accommodation includes air-conditioned rooms, ensuite bathrooms, internet access, comfortable communal areas, gardens and a swimming pool. The centre offers residential treatment, transitional living, sober living and recovery coaching, but it does not provide onsite medical detoxification. Anyone at risk of withdrawal should discuss appropriate detox arrangements with the admissions team before travelling.

I’ve had a lovely past month at Embrace Sober House! I arrived with the idea to give myself more time to get used to recovery and to test myself in a safe environment whilst striving to socialize and spend time around other people working on their recovery! I got this and so much more! I found a place of open minded and caring people! The staff have many years of sobriety are were always open to share their experience! The many activities organized were always lots of fun and very enjoyable! The facilities are well cared for and the atmosphere is magical! Healing in nature whilst enjoying great comfort! The rooms are cleaned every day and the staff is very professional! They make an extra effort into safety and making sure that the place stays a sober house! I was tested 2 x a week and felt very safe / cared for! Knowing that a place like this exists in the world gives me a lot of comfort! Thank you soo much for everything you’ve done for me!

I was lucky enough to have had a counselor in primary treatment who knew about Embrace and recommended I go there post-rehab. Following that recommendation and coming to Embrace, where I spent seven incredible months, solidified my early recovery journey — mainly because the highly approachable and professional staff, the programming, the activities, and my fellow clients kept me from long periods of dangerous isolation and rumination, which I was prone to at the time — and it may well have saved my life. I wish more people in early recovery, especially those who come to Thailand for treatment, knew about Embrace as a place to get strong and confident, to safely and happily transition back to normal life. It has therefore become a personal priority of mine to spread the word. NJ

Had a great experience at Embrace, being there for 2.5 months really helped consolidate my recovery. The staff are all fantastic and incredibly supportive, the program is thoughtful and gave me a good structure whilst also allowing me to explore my own passions and interests. The range of activities put on are also great so there’s always the option to do something each day.

I cannot express how grateful I am for Embrace, its brilliant support staff, therapists, managers and partners. They were instrumental in my successful recovery, and if it wasn’t for them I’m not sure I’d be writing this review today … that is not an exaggeration. Having spent three months in primary care, a profound, chaotic and revelatory experience, my decision to come to Embrace couldn’t have been more timely. Unbeknownst to me, often the case when leaving rehabilitation, I clearly needed more support and guidance - my recovery was too fragile to return home. Embrace was the perfect balance between continued therapeutic work and the real world. You are held accountable, whilst having the freedom to reintegrate into society. An essential part of the process. It is a fact that the more time you spend in rehabilitation the more likely you are to flourish and remain sober - Embrace is the place to do this. Embrace is the paradigm for sober living, and the foundations for a truly successful recovery are created by its indispensable program. I cannot recommend it enough.
