Turning Point Australia Carrington Road
About Turning Point Australia Carrington Road
Turning Point Australia Carrington Road is a free outpatient addiction treatment clinic serving Box Hill and Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Operated as part of Turning Point Eastern Treatment Services, the clinic is often an accessible first step for adults seeking help with alcohol, drugs, gambling or related mental health concerns. Care begins with an individual assessment that considers substance use, wellbeing, personal circumstances and recovery goals. Clinicians then help each person identify an appropriate pathway, which may include individual counselling, specialist medical care, medication-assisted treatment, care coordination, virtual support or referral to detoxification and residential services at other locations. The clinic combines medical, holistic and evidence-based principles with individual planning and family involvement. Its multidisciplinary service model includes addiction medicine, psychiatry, nursing, psychology, social work and peer-informed care, supporting people with substance use disorders as well as anxiety, depression and other co-occurring concerns. Located close to Box Hill train and bus services, the Carrington Road clinic offers a practical community setting without overnight accommodation. The building is wheelchair accessible, and culturally responsive alcohol and drug support is available for Aboriginal people, their families and community members.

the staffs & addiction psychiatrists who work at this particular clinic, are highly professional, well educated; who know how to treat their patients properly. if you seeking help i recommend turning point box hill!🙏🏼
I had my first appointment yesterday, and it was such a warm environment. Everyone was really nice, and Dr Armstrong has been amazing! I’m looking forward to starting my new journey. 🙏 Edit: 90 days, and I really need to reword it. I need to find some way for somebody to give me the counselling, etc. I didn’t realise that addiction is such a struggling area in Australia. Australia needs to fund more addiction services! Edit: It’s now been 251 days since I’ve had an opioid, other than a Fentanyl Patch or Endone. Apart from Sublocade and Suboxone. Still slowly being weaned off of benzodiazepines. In the psyche ward, they ramped my Valium up to 30mg per day, around 8 months ago. Now I’m down to 18.75mg (37.5% decrease) Valium. It’ll be great to come off of that. I’m now around 90kg or less. Which means I’m my high school weight. My acne has gone away. I’m down to 6 medications (well 5, as I can’t find an addiction psychiatrist to prescribe my ADHD medication) and take Celebrex 100mg BD for my foot maybe a couple times in a month, every 4 months. But this place truly saved my life! Dr Armstrong has been amazing!
Have tried to call to share feedback but the phones are not answered, and it is difficult to be patient with phones / messages / call backs, with everything that happens within the service system. Turning Point practitioner made a client referral to a service that the client did not meet criteria for. Client is desperate for mental health supports, and waited a number a months for acceptance into this program, to then find out they didn't qualify. This proceeds being put on and then removed from other wait lists for mental health services which are over-subscribed. Could Turning Point staff please note that Steps Programs do not accept clients with NDIS funding. These mistakes add up to a lot for a client that has SMI and paranoia, struggles to understand and put together all the different services / clinicians etc., and who is being pushed from one service to another. Thanks.
Very helpful when I called them. I will hopefully be able to get the help that I need here. 🤞🤞🤞
